Ondeh Ondeh twice-baked + Lemon Meringue croissants ($5 each)!
Artisan bakery croissants — ondeh ondeh twice-baked (pandan, coconut, gula melaka) and lemon meringue with torched topping. $5 each.
Treat-yo-self pastry haul — two fancy croissants from an artisan bakery. $5 each. 😋
What was on the table ($10 total):
- Ondeh Ondeh twice-baked croissant — a flaky butter croissant filled with pandan cream and gula melaka (palm sugar), then dusted with shredded coconut. A bright green pandan-coconut macaron-style topper on top for the local-flavour flag. Twice-baked = extra rich, slightly caramelised on the outside.
- Lemon meringue croissant — same flaky base, but topped with a torched Italian meringue swirled high like a meringue pie. Filled with lemon curd inside — sharp, sour, sweet, with the caramelised meringue burnt edges adding bitterness.
Both crossed local + classic French pastry boundaries beautifully. Ondeh ondeh croissant was the heritage hug; lemon meringue was the tangy showstopper.
Total: $10 for two pastries.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. Both delivered on creative cross-cuisine fusion. Pastry layers were properly buttery and shatter-crisp. Will be back for the next limited flavours. 😍👍🏼
