Rainy Saturday yuzu shabu at Yuzu Tei!
Yuzu-scented shabu shabu at Yuzu Tei (Pasir Panjang) — marbled beef, fresh vegetables, gyoza and a tall jug of cold yuzu juice. $148 for two on a wet Saturday.
Treated ourselves to Yuzu Tei at Pasir Panjang for a long, slow rainy Saturday lunch. Their yuzu-perfumed hot pot is the kind of meal that makes you forget the weather outside. 😍
We went with their shabu shabu set for two. The spread was beautiful — slices of well-marbled beef arranged on slate boards, a whole platter of fresh vegetables, mushrooms and tofu, plus a side of pan-fried gyoza to nibble on while waiting for the pot to boil.
The clay pot of broth came out steaming, with little discs of yuzu peel bobbing on top — the citrus aroma lifts the whole meal. Swished the beef through till just pink, dipped in their housemade sauces, and chased it with a tall jug of ice-cold yuzu juice. The drink is dangerous — refreshing and tart, kept us going back.
Damage: $148 for the two of us. Splurge-y but worth it for a Saturday treat.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. The yuzu does all the work — the broth is light, the meat sings. Best when it’s rainy outside and you don’t want to leave the table. 😋👍🏼
