My birthday dinner with BB, and what a special one: a multi-course modern meal at a rooftop restaurant, with the whole city lit up through the windows behind us. Thankful, and already looking forward to next year! β€π
Across the courses we had:
- A seared fish with grilled courgette ribbons and capers
- A cured salmon dish dressed with pea shoots and herbs
- A burrata-style plate with tomatoes and buckwheat
- A scallop and char siu bite
- Beautifully plated desserts, including a deconstructed chocolate-and-pistachio plate, a palate-cleanser, and a chocolate plate written with βHappy Birthdayβ
It was the kind of meal that unfolds slowly, plate after carefully composed plate, which is exactly what you want for a birthday. The savoury courses were light and pretty, the seared fish and cured salmon especially fresh and delicate, and the little scallop bite was a lovely surprise.
But more than any single dish, it was the whole evening: the glittering view, the unhurried courses, and that birthday dessert arriving with a candle. Being celebrated like this, somewhere this special, made it a night to remember.
