A relaxed weekend coffee stop with BB at Brawn & Brains Coffee: a cold brew ($8.20) and a cappuccino ($5.50). ☕😋
What we had ($13.70 total):
- Cold brew: served in a bottle with a glass of ice
- Cappuccino: with a light cocoa dusting on top
We covered both ends of the coffee spectrum. The cold brew was the smooth, easy-sipping one. Coffee steeped slowly in cold water for many hours, which gives it that signature low-acid, naturally sweet character, mellow and clean with none of the bitterness you get from hot-brewed iced coffee. Coming bottled with ice on the side, you pour it as you like, and it stayed refreshing right to the end.
The cappuccino was the cosier, classic order. A shot of espresso under a thick layer of velvety steamed-milk foam, dusted with a little cocoa, so you get that lovely foam-first sip with the coffee coming through underneath. Comforting and well-pulled.
Brawn & Brains is a proper specialty coffee outfit, and you can taste the care in both cups. Ordering a smooth cold one and a warm milky one to share is exactly how BB and I usually go, and it made for an easy, pleasant cafe pause.
Overall: 4.6 / 5. 😋👍🏼 A smooth, low-acid cold brew and a velvety cappuccino, both nicely made. Would re-visit.
