Dinner: steamboat & tze char spread!
A hearty dinner spread: a milky fish steamboat, a sizzling minced pork omelette in gravy, fried ngoh hiang and prawn fritters, chicken wings and mixed vegetables.
A proper feast of a Sunday dinner with BB, a mix of steamboat and tze char dishes to share. π
What we had:
- A milky fish steamboat with cabbage, tofu and mushrooms
- A sizzling minced pork omelette in a savoury gravy
- Fried ngoh hiang (five-spice meat rolls) and prawn fritters
- Fried chicken wings
- Mixed vegetables with mushroom
This was the sort of spread where you order a bit of everything and graze your way through. The fish steamboat was the comforting centrepiece, a milky, savoury broth simmering away with soft fish, cabbage and tofu, the kind of pot you keep ladling from.
Around it, the tze char dishes brought variety and crunch. The minced pork omelette, served sizzling in its gravy, was rich and eggy and great over rice. The ngoh hiang and prawn fritters were golden and crisp, perfect for dipping, and the fried chicken wings never miss. The plate of mixed vegetables with mushroom kept things a little lighter.
Between the warming pot and all the fried, savoury sides, it was a generous, satisfying meal to round off the weekend. Exactly the comforting, shared-table dinner you want on a Sunday.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. πππΌ A milky fish steamboat with crispy tze char sides, a generous and comforting spread. Would re-do.
