叉烧 烧肉 面 ($4)!

A roast-meat noodle fix for lunch: 叉烧 烧肉 面 (char siu and roast pork noodles) for $4. 😋

What we had:

This is the noodle version of the roast meat plate, and getting both meats on it is the way to go. The base is springy thin egg noodles, tossed dry in a savoury dark dressing so each strand is glossy, with a stalk of greens for freshness.

The two roast meats are the draw. The char siu had those lovely caramelised, lacquered edges, sweet and a little smoky with a good lean-to-fat balance. The siu yuk (roast pork belly) brought the crunch, crackly crisp skin over layers of fat and tender meat. Sweet-sticky and crispy-savoury in the same bowl is hard to beat.

Toss it all together so the noodles soak up the meat juices and the sauce, add a bit of chilli, and it is properly moreish. Honest, satisfying roast-meat noodles for four dollars, exactly the kind of weekday lunch that hits the spot.

Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Springy dry noodles with caramelised char siu and crackly siu yuk. Would re-order.
