Monday's brunch!

Monday phase-2 brunch at home — rice, eggs, vegetables, protein. Start-of-week home kitchen comfort.

Monday's brunch!

Monday brunch at home with BB — the start-of-week home cooking routine. After the indulgences of the TGIF Korean BBQ and Sunday cross-cuisine delivery, Monday returns us to the simple home plate.

Today’s plate:

The Monday brunch is the reset meal of the week. Simple, predictable, takes about 15 minutes from start to plate. The kind of cooking that doesn’t ask much of the morning energy but delivers a proper hot meal at the kitchen counter.

Hot rice base was the standard fluffy jasmine.

Fried egg was the M-style sunny-side standard. Crispy white edges, runny golden yolk.

Stir-fried vegetables today were cabbage shreds with carrot strips, smashed garlic, splash of soy.

Pan-seared protein was a small portion of sausage rounds — sliced Bratwurst, browned both sides in its rendered fat.

Chilli sauce on the side as always.

We sat at the kitchen table, drank coffee from the V60, ate slow. The Monday morning rhythm of working-from-home meant we could actually have a proper sit-down breakfast rather than the pre-pandemic grab-and-go that defined the office commute era.

Phase 2 reopening was rolling but the home Monday brunch had earned its slot. The cost-versus-quality math on home-cooked weekday breakfast is hard to beat — a fraction of the cafe price, faster than a queue, and you eat in your pyjamas.

Lockdown habits worth keeping. Monday home brunch sits firmly on the keeper list.

Overall: 4.2 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Reliable Monday brunch — keeping the routine.
