Pad Woon Sen at an Aljunied Thai stall ($5.50)!
Thai-style fried glass noodles (pad woon sen) with prawns, crab stick, egg, kailan, beansprouts and carrots from an Aljunied Thai hawker stall. $5.50.
Back at the Thai stall in Aljunied β this time for their Pad Woon Sen (Thai fried glass noodles). Same value pricing, different cravings. π
What was on the plate ($5.50):
- Slippery, translucent tang hoon (glass noodles) stir-fried in a savoury-sweet seasoning that lets each strand glisten.
- Plump prawns and slices of pink-edged crab stick for the seafood.
- Bits of scrambled egg clinging to the noodles for richness.
- A generous mix of fresh kailan, beansprouts, shredded carrots and scallions β proper veg content.
Compared to phad thai, this version is lighter β no tamarind tang, no peanuts β just clean stir-fried noodles with the umami coming from the wok-tossed sauce.
Total: $5.50. Same hawker price magic.
Overall: 4.1 / 5. Good for when you want noodles but something lighter than the rice-noodle version. Phad thai still my first love, but this was a solid alternative. πππΌ
