鸡扒面 (chicken chop noodle) at an Aljunied hawker ($4)!
Hawker-style chicken chop noodle (鸡扒面) at an Aljunied stall — yellow noodles in dark sauce gravy with crispy fried chicken chunks on the side. $4.
Back at the Aljunied hawker centre for another $4 noodle fix — this time the 鸡扒面 (chicken chop noodle). 😋
What was on the tray ($4):
- A bowl of springy yellow noodles swimming in a deep, dark gravy — slightly sweet-savoury, with a hint of pepper coming through.
- Scattered on top: crispy fried shallots for crunch and a slice of choy sum for green.
- On the side: a small red dish of crispy fried chicken chunks — crumbly golden batter, juicy on the inside.
Dip the chicken in the gravy, slurp the noodles. Repeat.
Total: $4. Hawker price, generous portion.
Overall: 4.2 / 5. Honest hawker plate — the chicken stayed crispy long enough to finish, and the gravy was the right thickness to coat the noodles without drowning them. 😍👍🏼
