Fried seafood udon at Jin Feng Mei Shi (金鳳美食) ($5)!
Fried seafood udon at Jin Feng Mei Shi (金鳳美食) hawker stall — thick udon stir-fried in dark sauce with prawns, sotong and bean sprouts. $5.
Hawker stop at Jin Feng Mei Shi (金鳳美食) — went for the fried seafood udon at $5. Thick noodles + seafood + wok hei = classic combo. 😋
What was on the blue plate ($5):
- A generous serving of thick udon noodles stir-fried in dark soy sauce — slightly chewy, properly slick with the sauce coating.
- Plump prawns (heads off) scattered through the noodles.
- Pieces of sotong (squid) with that distinctive bouncy bite — fresh enough to taste sweet.
- Crunchy bean sprouts giving the dish freshness and crunch.
The udon’s thickness was the win — more substantial than the usual hor fun or yellow mee. The sauce penetrated the noodles without making them soggy, and the seafood was fresh.
Total: $5. Hawker pricing for a hefty udon plate.
Overall: 4 / 5. Solid wok-fried noodles with fresh seafood, though I’d have wanted slightly more wok hei smokiness. Comforting and filling. 😍👍🏼
