Wanton mee date lunch at Leong Hua Wanton Noodles — dry mee kia loaded with sliced char siew, blanched greens; side bowls of clear wanton soup. $4 each.
Weekend wanton mee run with BB to Leong Hua Wanton Noodles — known for their generous char siew portions. $4 each. 😋
What was on the orange plates ($4 each):
- A bed of springy yellow mee kia tossed in the signature wanton mee sauce — one plate dressed in lighter style, one in the darker classic. A spoonful of chilli at the side.
- A generous fan of sliced char siew — properly sweet-glazed edges, rosy-pink centre. Way more meat per plate than the usual hawker stall.
- A handful of blanched choy sum for the green.
- Each plate came with its own side bowl of clear wanton soup — plump wantons, chopped scallions, light peppery broth.
The char siew was the main attraction — Leong Hua doesn’t skimp on portion. The noodles had proper QQ bounce and the sauce balance was on point.
Total: $8 for the two of us.
Overall: 4.2 / 5. Reliable wanton mee with generous char siew — exactly what you want for a weekend lunch. Will be back. 😍👍🏼
