Sunday dim sum brunch at Yàn (National Gallery)!
Charcoal gold-streaked lava custard buns, classic siu mai, crispy hedgehog buns and a silky seafood porridge for a slow Sunday dim sum brunch at Yàn, National Gallery Singapore.
Slowed it down for Sunday with a proper dim sum brunch at Yàn (宴) on Level 5 of National Gallery Singapore. 🥟😋
The standouts on our table:
- Charcoal lava custard buns — three little black domes with a gold-painted stripe across the top, hiding a molten salted egg yolk custard inside. As pretty as they are gooey.
- Steamed siu mai — pork, prawn and mushroom, opened up like a flower in their bamboo basket. Always a must-order.
- Crispy hedgehog buns — golden, flaky pineapple-bun pastry sculpted into adorable hedgehog shapes. Crunchy on the outside, soft and sweet inside. Almost too cute to eat. Almost. 🦔
- Seafood porridge — silky-smooth congee with fish slices, scallions and crispy fritters scattered on top. Comforting, savoury, exactly what we needed mid-meal.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. The buns alone are worth the trip — especially those gold-streaked charcoal beauties. Solid Sunday choice. 😍👍🏼
