Chicken cutlet laksa noodles at a Chinatown hawker ($4)!
Laksa noodles with crispy fried chicken cutlet at a Chinatown hawker stall — coconut curry broth, bean sprouts, laksa leaves and a side plate of chicken bites. $4.
Lunch hawker run in Chinatown — went for a bowl of laksa noodles with chicken cutlet on the side at $4. Comfort spice in a green bowl. 😋
What was on the tray ($4):
- A bowl of laksa — red-orange curry-coconut broth with the signature glistening oil pool on top.
- Topped with bean sprouts, a generous mound of finely chopped laksa leaves (daun kesum) and slices of fish cake peeking through.
- Side plate of crispy fried chicken cutlet pieces — golden battered chunks, dropped into the laksa as I ate.
The laksa broth was on the spicier side, properly perfumed with laksa leaves and lemak from coconut. The chicken cutlet pieces stayed crispy long enough — until I deliberately drowned them in the soup.
Total: $4. Hawker-priced bowl of laksa with the bonus protein.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. The chicken cutlet was a great add-on — turned an everyday laksa into a more filling meal. Will order this combo again. 😍👍🏼
