Minced pork porridge + xiao long bao at a Geylang dimsum spot ($3+ / $5.80+)!
Late-night dimsum and porridge at a Geylang spot — minced pork congee with spring onion and fried shallots, plus a steamer of xiao long bao with chilli-vinegar dip. $3+ porridge, $5.80+ XLB.
Late-night supper at a Geylang dimsum spot — one of those 24-ish-hour places where you can get porridge and xiao long bao at any hour. Hit the spot perfectly. 😋
What was on the table:
- Minced pork porridge ($3+) — smooth, creamy congee with a generous layer of soft minced pork, fried shallots and fresh chopped spring onions scattered across the top. Comfort in a bowl.
- A small dish of dark chilli sauce with shredded ginger on the side — proper porridge condiment.
- Steamer basket of xiao long bao ($5.80+) — pleated dumplings sitting in their little white paper liners, with a side dish of black vinegar and ginger for dipping. Each one piping hot, soup ready to burst.
The porridge texture was on point — grains broken down properly but not over-pasty, with the minced pork seasoned just right. XLB skin was thin enough to see the broth inside without breaking when picked up.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. Solid late-night combo, the porridge was the highlight. Will definitely be back when the supper cravings hit. 😍👍🏼
