Koo Kee Yong Tau Foo signature noodles at Chinatown ($4.60)!
Koo Kee Yong Tau Foo Mee (高記釀豆腐麵) at People's Park area, Chinatown — dry mee kia with minced pork and a side bowl of clear YTF soup with fish ball, beancurd ball and tau pok. $4.60.
Lunchtime hawker run to Koo Kee Yong Tau Foo Mee (高記釀豆腐麵) in the Chinatown / People’s Park area — old-school YTF stall with the dry mee kia people queue for. 😋
What was on the green plate ($4.60):
- A nest of thin yellow mee kia tossed in their signature sauce — savoury, slightly sweet, faintly tangy. Springy noodles.
- A generous mound of minced pork right on top — soft, almost like the way some wanton mee stalls do it.
- The side bowl: a clear yong tau foo soup with a bouncy fish ball, a chunky beancurd ball, a piece of stuffed fried tau pok and chopped spring onions.
- Chilli sauce on the side for the dab-as-you-go style.
The sauce on the noodles was the standout — properly balanced, not over-soya, with the mee kia staying QQ till the last bite.
Total: $4.60. Hawker pricing on a famous-name plate.
Overall: 4.2 / 5. Reliable old-school taste, generous minced pork topping, and the soup ingredients tasted fresh. Will come back. 😍👍🏼
